In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Alexia Diaconescu

Student
Alexia Diaconescu, an 11th grader at AISB, explains the causes for fearing change and that our fear of change is counterproductive and a form of self-sabotage. Alexia shares with you her friend’s story that illustrates how she adapts to the volatility of change even though, in her case, uncertainty has more severe consequences. Lastly, Alexia will recommend strategies to alter your perception of change and to view change not as a hindrance, but rather, as an opportunity for growth.

Ilinca Ioana Miclea

Student
Ilinca Miclea's journey with Booktok, a grade 11 student at AISB, began with a modest demand from her English class: one or two books per year. However, over time, she found herself pushing her boundaries, gradually immersing into a world where reading became a passion. Transitioning from solitary reading sessions to vibrant community engagement, she experienced a transformation facilitated by platforms like Booktok. Her annual book count skyrocketed from 1 or 2 to an impressive 50 to 65 books. Through this journey, she discovered the profound impact of social media on book exploration, shedding light on the evolving landscape of reading habits and the enriching experiences it brings to individuals, whether they are seasoned book enthusiasts or simply curious about the power of digital platforms.

Patrick Romanescu

Student
Society places us into boxes, you are either an extrovert or an introvert. From a young age, people have defined such a complex topic as humans by only fitting into two categories and never being able to change. If a kid is considered an introvert, that is what he lives with. This idea of change is unheard of and almost uncertain, but not impossible. Come along to hear about Patrick Romanescu's story, a grade 10 student at AISB, who progressed from one box to another on and off the basketball court.
