Getting started with TED

Not sure where to begin your TED adventures? Here are some highlights from TED.com and beyond.
Watch a talk or two...or a thousand
The heart and soul of TED.com is our vast library of TED Talks. If you know what you're looking for, you can jump right into searching and sorting. If you’re just browsing, we recommend starting with playlists — featuring topics from "Animals that amaze" to "Re-imagining school." There’s even a "TED 101," specially curated for newcomers.
Explore the stories behind the talks
If you're itching to read more about a speaker's work, the impact of TED's big ideas, or where a talk fits into its field as a whole, you can turn to our great community coverage on the TED Blog or to our brand-spanking-new ideas.TED.com. The TED Blog follows the goings-on of the people who make TED what it is — from speakers to translators to TEDx organizers — and Ideas digs deeper into the subjects TED is passionate about — some of the biggest questions of our time.
Learn a little something
There's plenty to learn on TED-Ed, where educators team up with animators to bring you short, creative lessons worth sharing. If you're a student, a teacher, or just ever wanted to know why glass is transparent or how the electoral college actually works, TED-Ed is a perfect resource. You can create your own lessons, too, from any YouTube video or our own originals.
Join us for the main event
Looking to be where the magic happens? With your TED account you can apply to attend a TED Conference. Check out past TEDs, TEDGlobals, TEDActives and more. Attending TED is a unique experience — a chance to see the talks given live and to meet the many incredible, inspiring members of the TED community. Registrations open a year in advance.
Meet the TEDx family
You can see TED in action in your own community through TEDx, our program of independently organized local events. TEDx Talks, given at events large and small all around the world, have that special TED energy plus their own local character. How can you get involved? Browse the extensive TEDx library, attend an event that’s happening near you, or even apply to organize your own.
Reach across language barriers
Want to share our ideas worth spreading across the globe? The Open Translation Project is a worldwide network of volunteer translators who make subtitled TED Talks available in over 100 languages. Look for talks in your language or sign up to translate talks yourself!
And that’s just the beginning — take a look around the site, play with your new account, and we know you'll like what you see.
