With his company, Torgeir Straand’s main role since 2005 was as a supplier to the subsea oil- and gas industry on great ocean depths. But after participating at the Paris climate conference in 2015, realizing the huge role technology will play in solving issues related to climate and environment, the company decided to reorganize and sell the main part of their oil and gas division. They have since then been using their expertise together with professors at the university to develop technology to accelerate the transition to a greener society. One of their solutions is a patent for capturing the methane in manure, the cow farts. This technology help improve soil health and global warming as well as the farmers climate positive new income.
