In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Anvi Babbar

In my TED Talk titled: “Beautiful Lies,” I will challenge the power that the concept of beauty holds on society. Rather than redefining beauty, I will propose to abolish it completely. Societal standards limit our potential and trap us in a cycle of comparison and insecurity. Together we’ll break down the myths that have held us hostage, and begin to see ourselves and each other as something much more than appearance.

Ariana Toor

Hello, my name is Ariana Toor, and I am a grade 10 student at Newtons Grove School. I am passionate about self-improvement and growth. I aspire to better myself for the future as well as help others overcome challenges. I began public speaking at a young age but only became passionate about speaking in grade 8 when I realized the impact a great speech can have on a person. These past 3 years I have spent improving my writing and creativity skills. Over the years I have also learnt to express my thoughts and ideas with confidence, further helping me become a great speaker.

Ashni Pandita

Hey! My name is Ashni Panidta, I'm a grade 12 student here at Newtons Grove School. Outside of being a student, I'm an athlete, artist and someone who wants to inspire and create impact. Public speaking is not something that I've always loved. I was actually a really shy kid, the type that couldn't even speak in front of family. However, overtime thanks to playing sports, I've developed confidence, and now look forward to and love presenting my thoughts with others!

Dylan Puri

Hi, my name is Dylan Puri, and I am a grade 11 student at Newton's Grove School. The meaning of life can never truly be answered-it's deeply personal and unique to every individual. Yet, one constant we share is the pursuit of fulfillment: Finding a purpose that brings us true satisfaction. As I've reflected on the world around us, I've come to see how it's filled with misinformation. People spread lies and overpromise shortcuts to success. They'll eagerly tell you how to get motivated, but rarely explain why motivation isn't enough.

Eknoor Nanda

Hello, I'm Eknoor Nanda, a grade 12 student at Newton's Grove School, and I have been passionate about public speaking since I was very young. To me it has always been a powerful way to share my voice and to connect with others. I truly believe that public speaking is one of the most important skills to have, as it allows us to inspire change and make an impact.

Isabella Thompson

My name is Isabella Thompson, a grade eleven student at Newtons Grove School. I am interested in finding new and unique ways to improve the new generation’s way of thinking and processing. Helping others feel okay has always been something that interests me, psychology has been a major passion of mine for years now. I grew up on a small island in the Caribbean called St. Kitts and Nevis where public speaking meant standing in front of a class of 6-8 students that you were close and friendly with and speaking. Moving to Canada in grade nine challenged me to go outside of this comfort zone, speak to more people, engage in conversations, and develop my skills as an individual. Public speaking is certainly not something that comes naturally to me, its been a challenge that i've been working on and overcoming, but I am excited to test myself in front of all of you at our event!

Naveed Alli

Hello! My name is Naveed Yusuf Alli and I am a grade 12 student at Newton's Grove School. I love public speaking and collaborating among people. Understanding those around me and taking in new ideas has always been fascinating for me. I know that no matter where I go in life, I want to work with people. Since fourth grade I have loved public speaking. I participated in yearly competitions and became enamoured with the effect my words had. I love presenting, performing and sharing my ideas on stage, and each year pursued this passion of mine. As I’ve spent years refining this craft, I am excited to share it with you at our event.

Sfiyah Alli

Hi, my name is Sfiyah Alli, and I am a Grade 9 student at Newton's Grove School. I absolutely love the arts, whether it is music, visual arts or drama. I have a deep adoration for anything with a creative aspect, as they provide an output for my thoughts and feelings. I strive to connect with others and inspire people with my actions, words, and art, as many have done for me. I have been public speaking since I came to this school in Grade 7, and have loved the opportunity to have a presence on stage. Since I was young, I have loved to talk about anything, and everything, and public speaking has given me the chance to share my thoughts, sway others with my words, grow my confidence, and improve my ability to connect.
